We are looking for an Fundraising Director to join our innovative and international team.
About Thorizon
At Thorizon, a passionate team of 50 based in Amsterdam and Lyon is committed to advancing a new nuclear power solution using Molten Salt Reactor (MSR) technology. Our purpose is to accelerate the availability of clean and affordable energy and help solve the climate crisis. As we advance our reactor design through prototyping, analysis, experimentation, and partnerships, we believe in a transparent and collaborative culture where unity and open communication are paramount.
Your mission
As Fundraising Director, you will take charge of one of the most strategic pillars of our start-up: fundraising. You will be responsible for shaping and executing our capital-raising strategy—from Series A to securing funding for our first-of-a-kind (FOAK) deployment. This is not just about numbers—it’s about building strong investor relationships, aligning our business case with investor expectations, and ultimately ensuring Thorizon’s long-term success. The role is based in Amsterdam or Lyon as part of the CFO team.
In this role you will:
Develop the fundraising strategy: Design and lead Thorizon’s fundraising roadmap, from Series A through to commercialization, incorporating both private and public funding options.
Improve company positioning & storytelling: Translate our technology and vision into a compelling investment narrative that resonates with diverse investors (deep-tech, climate tech, infrastructure, family offices, governments). Ensure financial models align with investment case and strategic objectives.
Manage investor relations: Identify, engage, and cultivate relationships with top-tier VCs, infrastructure funds, family offices, and strategic investors.
Own process: Manage the end-to-end fundraising process—including due diligence, data room prep, investor decks, term sheet negotiations, and deal closure as well as supporting grant applications.
Build market insights: Keep a pulse on the capital markets, investor trends, and funding instruments relevant to deep-tech and energy innovation.
Work closely together with management team: Reporting to the CFO, you will closely work with the CEO, CFO and Chief of staff on fundraising efforts.
Job requirements
About you:
You have a proven track record in > € 50mln rounds and fundraising or investing in asset heavy deep-tech or climate-tech.
You have a deep understanding of early-stage financing, venture capital, and project finance for complex technologies
You are practical strategist: You are able to zoom in and out and can translate technical complexity into clear business value
You are financially savvy, with a strong grasp of financial models, investment case analysis, risk assessment, and exit strategies.
You are an excellent communicator and relationship builder with credibility in front of investors
You have an entrepreneurial mindset; proactive, resourceful, and comfortable operating in ambiguity
You have an extensive network in the European (or global) deep tech investment community
You thrive in a fast-moving, high-growth startup environment, balancing strategic vision with hands-on execution.
You have a master’s degree in finance/business, engineering degree considered a plus
Language Proficiency: You are fluent in English
Passion for Clean Energy: You are deeply committed to accelerating the clean energy transition and shaping the future of nuclear technology.
